WELCOME TO BREATHE EASY

The Support Network of the British Lung Foundation

The Breath Easy network provides support and information for people living with a lung condition and also for those who care for them.
The British Lung Foundation is the only charity working for everyone affected by lung disease.

People with lung conditions and those who care for them can often feel very alone, confused and isolated so making friends is important and it is these Breathe Easy Groups that can make that happen.

There are over 160 support groups across the United Kingdom and the numbers are growing steadily.

We support people through regular group meetings and/or offering help over the phone. We have a pen-pal scheme, enabling people to be in touch with others in the same situation.

We are a powerful campaigning force for change, working hard at both local and national levels. One example of this is that due to our campaign the Department of Health agreed to a complete review of the way oxygen is provided in England and Wales.

We support parents and carers looking after children with recurring chesty problems.

The British Lung Foundation produces a range of information on a wide variety of subjects to do with lung disease. This is by both leaflets and on the website (click logo):

The British Lung Foundation invests approximately £1,000,000 a year in research projects – all aiming to improve the diagnosis or treatment of lung conditions. There is also a British Lung Nurse Programme which is expanding the number of nurses specializing in the care of people affected by respiratory disease.
The Breathe Easy groups run a range of activities besides the regular group meetings: they have a wide variety of speakers on medical and general topics, social events and outings, encouraging people to learn to live with their lung disease and realize that “THERE IS SO MUCH TO LIVE FOR”.
